Hearing From the Specialists: A Cross-Market Survey on Hearing Aid Satisfaction
A survey of 100 experienced ENT specialists across the US and EU5 showed a hearing technology company how satisfied hearing aid users are, which problems come up most often, and where a new device could make a difference.
A hearing technology company wanted to understand how satisfied hearing aid users are, seen through the eyes of the specialists who assess and manage them. Its main questions were which problems arise most often, which patients struggle with most, and where current devices fall short.
ENT specialists were a practical route to a broad view. Each one sees many hearing aid users and can compare outcomes across devices, patient types, and levels of hearing loss.
The recruitment covered the US and Europe's five largest markets: France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. Screening criteria were:
At least five years in practice
Seeing at least 30 hearing aid users a month
Direct involvement in hearing loss assessment
Physicians completed a short online survey covering satisfaction drivers, common complaints, reasons patients stop using their devices, and unmet needs.
The final sample was 100 ENT specialists across the six markets.
The volume threshold mattered. Specialists who see many hearing aid users can describe patterns across patients rather than isolated cases, which makes their view of satisfaction more reliable.
Running one survey across six markets meant results could be compared directly between the US and Europe and from country to country.
The study gave the client a specialist-level view of hearing aid satisfaction and a clear picture of where a new device could make a difference.
